Cliff has been aware for a long time that the decisions we make can have a major impact on what our environment and the world we live in will look like in the future. Cliff has therefore always tried to manage his activities accordingly.
When the UN and world leaders joined forces in 2015 to agree on 17 common global goals and 169 associated targets to achieve sustainable development in the world, which resulted in “Agenda 2030”, Cliff felt that this was quite right and in line with his values; what he stood for; and how he used to work.
Through Agenda 2030, the UN and the world’s leaders have jointly committed themselves to, among other things, eliminating extreme poverty and hunger, contributing to better health and education, reducing inequalities and injustices, fostering sustainable industries and communities, promoting peace and justice, and solving the climate crisis.
Cliff was already working on many of the issues covered in the 17 goals and 169 associated targets well before Agenda 2030 became a concept, but he now has a better structure and a clear objective for his continued work in the form of the defined goals.
Using Agenda 2030 as a basis, he has tried to find out how well he fulfils these goals within each part of his businesses and tried to find out what more he can do in order to drive these issues forward.
He is taking Agenda 2030 very seriously, and he certainly wants to be involved in making a difference and influencing and creating the change that is necessary if we all are to achieve the goals set for 2030.
Even though he knows that he has done a lot, Cliff realises that there is still a great deal to do. He also realises that this is urgent. We only have a few years to act!
Cliff is a member of a number of national and international committees and technical working groups including MCS' Electrical Energy Storage Standard (EESS) and Solar Photovoltaic groups.
He is also former member of Solar Energy UK (formerly Solar Trade Association) "Small-Scale Energy" and BRE Standard Assessment Procedure (SAP) Industry Forum (SAPIF) “Home Energy Storage” working groups.
Cliff provides independent expert witness support on various microgeneration renewable energy technologies to a number of clients including the Police and Trading Standards.
In his capacity as an expert witness Cliff has assessed and written numerous investigative reports and his evidence has been used in successful prosecutions against a number of individuals and companies convicted of mis-selling microgeneration equipment.
